Today marks the 14th day that Laura MacKenzie — a bright, athletic Goffstown High School senior — has dropped out of sight, worrying friends and family who are doing everything possible to find her.

A prayer service was held last night at the First Baptist Church of Amherst. A Web site is devoted to finding her. And her picture is posted throughout the greater Manchester area and in New Jersey and Florida, where family and friends live.

“She’s always been such a good girl,” said her father, William MacKenzie. Laura, who is 18, and her three older brothers grew up in Goffstown.

Laura is an honor-roll student who has been in the school drama club. She is a member of the school track team and an avid reader, spending much of her free time at the library and Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Her boyfriend, Tom Leo of Goffstown, knows nothing about her disappearance, MacKenzie said.

Laura left her home about 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, telling family she was getting an oil change on her 1995 black Volkswagen Golf, said Goffstown police Capt. Glenn DuBois.

“It appears that she consciously decided to leave and not make her whereabouts known,” DuBois said. Because MacKenzie is an adult, she cannot be classified a runaway, he said.

DuBois said the missing person investigation continues and there is no indication MacKenzie met with foul play. She had “limited funds” when she disappeared.

I just found this response to a post on the website for Laura MacKenzie...apparently she was still missing as of Sunday, April 23, 2006...

[Editors Note: We don't normally respond in this forum, but felt it was important to do so. Laura left her home on March 8 to do several things - go to school, get an oil change for her car, and to appear in court on a publicly documented shoplifting charge. Even though she did not appear in court as per schedule, no warrant has been issued for her. According to Hillsborough County Sheriffs Dept., they are most interested in her safe return to her family.

Quote:
As of today, 4/23/2006, she has not been seen, heard from, or located. She is not at the home of any family member.

Lastly, the most important thing is for Laura to contact her family -- regardless of why she left home. She is a bright, talented honor student and athlete with a promising future. Her disappearance and complete lack of communication is completely atypical and cause for great concern. We, those who love her and family, support her, forgive her, and will work through any issues with her. We hope you and others will help us bring her home. ]http://www.findlaura.org/messages.htm

Laura is featured on Americas Most Wanted as a feature story in the "missing persons" area. After a lot of hard work, it was heaven sent, to have a producer of Americas Most Wanted call and ask for additional information.....and then do a wonderful, informative, story about Laura.
There are some wonderful pictures of Laura on the site, with a very thoughtful writeup. ( www.amw.com)
There is a family and friends effort to put out Press Releases in every state. Thankfully some papers are interested in our search.
It feels great to go National.......and hopefully AMW will do a TV spot. I think it is mentioned that there was a radio spot. Bless them!
When I gave information to AMW I also include Maura and Brianna......
Because no family should have the loss of a daughter........
With GREAT FAITH that they will all return home safe and sound.
